Tonight we dedicated the training to see how much of the curriculum the guys knew. We asked them to perform without instructing and drill what they knew. We covered: 3 of 9 with its different variations. 5-count and 7-count passing drills. 10-count kayanan. Td 1-3. Later, we ran a line drill for Td2 to get more reps in.

Class Notes – Aug 23, 2016 – Projectiles with TD 1

Instructing: Guro Joe C & Guro Lem

Attendence: Lance, Edward, Dinno, Dan, and Brian

Notes:

Tonight, we incorporated projectiles into the transitional drill 1. First, we went through the template for TD1. We then had them run through the drill by adding projectiles for each target. We later introduced trying to clear and then projecting into the target. Then, we added multiple attackers to the drill.

Class Notes – April 19, 2016 – Transitional Drills

Instructing: Guro Joe C

Attendance: Sid, Dan, Ryan, Brian, Alex and Asim

Notes:

We were talking about how nice the weather was so we held class outside.  Great weather and some low light training.
We started out with just Sid, Dan and Brian.  Dan and Brian took turns feeding Sid who only knew TD1, “kinda”.  They were instructed to not correct verbally just keep the pace moderately and take any cut that was available.  I provided instruction for Sid when he was unable to self correct.
Asim arrived soon after. Asim and Brian demoed 1 thru 8.  Asim was kinda rusty.  I had them focus on 7 and just turn up the intent and pressure on both sides to find the errors and weak spots and correct them.  When Alex and Ryan got there, they did the same with TD 4.
Dan continued to Feed Sid TD1 with the goal of making Sid respond correctly based on a proper feed.  This cleaned up Dan’s feed a bit.
Everyone demoed at the end and everyone looked sharper and more confident in the techniques.  Sid knows the receiver side of TD 1.
We ended with a little talk about the value of drills and how they can and can’t make you a better fighter.  I told them we should work these techniques into free flow next class to break out of the drill sequencing and isolate techniques.

Class Notes – April 12, 2016 – Transitional Drills

Instructing: Guro Joe M and Guro Lem

Attendance: Lance, James, Alex, Dan, Brian, Ryan, and Asim

Notes:

Tonight we started class with review of transitional drill 1. Everyone in class had experience with this Td so we were just reviewing it. After many reps and drilling td1, we started on reviewing Td2. Majority of the class had done this drill too so we were reviewing it with them also. We switched partners and got to flow with different people in class. Hopefully next class we can get more reps and less instructing during the drill.
