Class Notes – March 29, 2016 – Medical Management

Instructing: Guro Joe M and Guro Joe C.

Notes:

Tonight, we got back to some knife stuff with a quick review of the 1st 3 stop-blocks of TD 1. We then ran a scenario where two people are attacked by a guy with a blade.  This let us to deal with security issues around the wounded party etc.  This less sterile and more contextualized scenario lead to the inevitable legality discussions. We recommended everyone to talk to an actual lawyer… We also covered some basic group/team tactics.  We ended class with a show and tell on medkits.2016-03-29-13-23-51

Class Notes – March 8, 2016 – Transitional Drill 1 & Medical Kit’s

Instructing: Guro’s Joe C and Lem

Attending: Sid, Lance, James, Dan, Asim, and Alex

Notes:

Tonight’s class we started with a review of Transitional drill 1. After that we went through the first 3 stop-blocks for Td1. Stop-blocks are used to gain time from the person with the blade. We discussed that they would be using some of these techniques from tonight for the upcoming classes. We talked about what they could carry in there personal med kit. Some of the suggestions from the class for a personal med kit were: tourniquet of some kind, compression gauze, chest seal, gloves, and surgical tape. Next week, we will try running through some common injuries from a knife and how to treat them.
