Kapatid Miguel “Vedo” Acevedo put together a group demonstration for the 7th Annual Asian Festival in Reston, VA. Each year, the Asian Festival highlights a different culture; this year showcased the Philippines! Here is Vedo’s report …

Demo started with an intro of Sayoc by Josh.
In attendance: Joe, David, Michael, Devlin, Phil, Martin, Ryan, Bob, Mark, Aaron, and Miguel and Alfred from the NOVA training group. We continued working on AK knife material, moving into tapping and the hit set.
Guro Lem and Miguel ran class in my absence …
Attendance: Miguel (Vedo), Sam (came with Vedo), Lem, Aaron, Brian, Roderick, Shane, Josh, Phil, Victor, and Jason Dumond (prospective student).Class started off with 3 of 9 template, tapping, and left hand. Vedo and I walked around to give everyone help if needed and made sure they were doing it right. Jason was introduced to 3 of 9 template. It was nice to see Miguel again. I got to work with Sam with some of the TD drills (1-5). We ended class with free flow.
In attendance: Bob Shin (instructing), Miguel A., Joe C., David D., Sam F., Mosi J., and Paul S.We welcomed the guys from the NOVA training group. We reviewed TD 1 and the 7 count passing drill, and introduced TD 1 silak. We also worked on defeating reflexive counters and a couple of SPD drills.
