Tonight we went over digables–contact, contact to no-contact, and no-contact to no-contact. Digables are different ways to defeat the Receiver’s tapping. After getting some reps with the digables, we introduced panatuken set 1. We showed the first 3 counts of the first set of panatuken. Next class we’ll continue showing the rest of the set.

Welcoming the new year with some long blade drills. First, we worked on footwork showing a male triangle drill. Next we showed a downward deflection on the right side to a two count hit; stepping to the left of the triangle at the same time. We followed that up with forcing an anchor to initiate feeder 2 reaction.

Notes: Last class of the year! Tonight we reviewed transitional drills and worked on a specific ones for this class. We split the class in two groups. Lance and James worked on TD’s 1 and 2. The rest of the group worked mainly on TD 6.

Tonight’s class we went over the 10 count Kayanan drill. Considered a flow drill that utilizes reverse grip with attacking and covering/passing. Circular and bowtie patterns showed.

We worked on intercepts and re-directs off the lines from the first two counts of 5 count passing drill. Not everyone had a long blade trainer so we used the knife training blades to perform the drills.

Reviewed transitional drills 1 through 5. Some students ran through TD 2 more in depth. Next time, we will go through the isolations for this drill to get reps in and to make sure they know their targets.
