Class Notes – Nov 17, 2015 – 4 of 9 Template

Instructing: Guro Joe M, Guro Joe C, and Guro Lem

Attendence: James, Lance, Dan, Sid, Asim, and Ryan

Notes:
Tonight’s class we installed 4 of 9 template with right and left hand. Everyone had a chance to run through the whole template for both right and left hand. Later, we had them experiment using the left hand template to clear the receiver’s reflexive responses. Also, we had them switch from forward grip to reverse grip to see what differences/similarities in motion they experienced. Guro Joe C. showed the template with the receiver’s reflexive response to the right hand attacks using right hand in a forward grip and left hand in a reverse grip.

Oct. 6 2015 – Five Count Passing Drill with Combat Sets

Instructing: Guro Joe C, Guro Joe M, and Guro Lem

Attending: Brian, Dan, Bob, Asim, Lance, Sid, Alex, and James

Notes:

Five count passing drill with Tuhon Tom’s combat sets 1 – 5. Like in different fma schools, these attacks are from different angles. These preset attacks are then passed through with an open or closed counter. Once the drill has been installed, the Feeder goes into the grappling range of the drill. Each angle will have a different grappling sequence that either goes into a throw or a control that the receiver cannot move out of. This control is done to the blade arm and/or receiver’s body, or head.

Class Notes – Sept 8 – Scenario Discussion

Instructing: Guro Joe C, Guro Joe M, and Guro Lem

Attendance: Alex, Bob, Dan, Sid, Brian, and Ryan

We asked the group what scenarios they had running through their minds if they had to draw their blade. We had them explain what they did before, during, and after the altercation. Things for them to also think about was how they drew their blade, fixed or folder, how many attackers, or with a family member. Things to think about… Why do we train?
