Saturday Class notes Mar. 8, 2014

Attendance: Chris, Catherine, Guro Joe C. instructing

We installed the first 5 counts of 3 of 9 tapping receiver side.  The receiver had blades in both hands.  We also covered basic grab counters including hand switch, OSH draw, and double elbow scoop. As always we practiced drawing and properly replacing from concealed carry.

Class Notes: Feb 18, 2014

Attendance: Robert, Dan, Alex, Asim, Ryan, and Guro Lem instructing. Continued on working TD1  with level 3 isolations. After reviewing TD1, we had Feeders and Receivers sit back to back. As I said ‘go’, Feeders picked any three random targets from TD1 template while Receivers tries to correctly tap all attacks. We did a few rounds so everyone had the chance of being both Feeder and Receiver.

Later, we did 20 push ups and 20 squats to lead us into another round of  modified TD1 drilling . This time we accelerated the drill  and (hopefully without losing technique) made them feed with intent. Also, emphasizing Feeder to press the action (move forward) when feeding TD1.

Last part of class, we free flowed with Feeders only using TD1 and 3 of 9 techniques. We also slowed down the feed to about 50% hoping that the Feeders would learn how to set up their attacks and not use speed to get Receiver’s internal targets.

I remember Pamana Tuhon Sayoc asking us if we had to fight our twin who can match us speed for speed and strength for strength (basically, the same physical attributes). How would you beat it? Could you beat someone who is faster than you or stronger than you? Does your training help you develop that mindset to get to that target in less than ten moves or how about less than five moves?
